How to be a Good Customer
We borrowed this idea from Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery. We realize that most folks have never been trained to be a good customer, so we decided to offer a few suggestions. First of all, become an educated customer. Our web site is a good starting point. We will provide and continually update information that will make your green thumb the envy of all your friends, as well as your neighbors. Our web site will include our list of favorite books as well as links to other organizations and noteworthy web sites.
Most importantly come in and visit. We are proud of our knowledgeable staff. We can answer questions from the simplest to the most complex. After all, we ourselves are gardeners! When calling, please be patient. While you are the most important person at the moment, there may be many more of you than there are of us, either on the other line or standing at the checkout counter. Whether on the phone or in person, it is important to be nice. Nice customers get amazingly better results than those with a bad attitude. If you are a mean person, we can recommend places for you to shop.
Our garden center uses a thought process called common sense. If you take plants home and leave them sitting around in their original containers for a few months and don't water them, don't ask for replacements. Other circumstances beyond our control: death from drought, dogs using your plants as a fire hydrant, the return of the ice age, abduction by aliens, plant-napping and the garbage truck running over your flower bed. We understand that people change their minds...No problem. The changing of one's mind is absolutely fine as long as the merchandise is in its original condition and you are not bringing back an Easter holiday plant in December.
Now that you know how to be a good customer, roll up your sleeves and let's have some fun!
